antiques & collectables fair

On Monday we went to Newbury Race Course, not for racing, but for something far more exciting... bric a brac!! I could have bought so many amazing things from furniture, glass, rugs, vintage suitcases, lamps and so much more. Instead, trying to keep my focus, we searched for some garden furniture. Having never had a garden of our own, and with all this sunny weather, we bought a lovely table and two chairs, which now sit perfectly outside in our little garden.

Have you been enjoying the lovely weather? I was stuck inside at work yesterday, but I'm going to make the most of tomorrow and get my boring jobs done first thing and then outside to enjoy the sunshine.

A few photos from my work room; I bought some beautiful silks recently, inspired by the colours of the Hellebore flowers on my pin board. I have already made some little purses out of it with broderie anglaise detail.

I have filled this old glass sweet jar with lace and trims, it's perfect as I can see what pieces I have rather than them being hidden away.

sunday catch up ...

It's been a busy week at work, so I haven't spent a huge amount of time on my own textiles. Now with a few days off I plan to start on some new designs for a couple of shows that are coming up.

I have had a bit of time to make some cards for The Old Fire Station Gallery in Oxford and Rosie B's Home & Interiors in Chipping Norton.

Well, I had better get on, I'm off to see my mum,and take her a little pressie,as it's mother's day today and to visit our favourite bric a brac shop.

papilio paris

Sunday's here! The more relaxed day of the week, no rushing out the door to try and catch my bus to work....instead a chance to tidy up, finish off some cards and take some photos to share with you.

The beautiful butterfly, 'Papilio Paris' was a present from my boyfriend and the books I bought from a charty shop last week.

 I'm trying to teach myself the names of wild flowers, I love the faded and slightly old fashioned illustrations.

Well here they are, my new business cards. As you can see I couldn't decide on just one image, so I went for a selection, to show a few examples of my work. I'm really pleased with how they turned out. They have a lovely vintage feel to them. What do you think?

.... making baked apples with cinnamon cream from a new book 'The Vintage Tea Party' I might try these scones next....

...an old suitcase which I plan to cover in Liberty fabric stacked up with books and magazines ...
